so far Toshibas have shown their muscle – an Acer wouldnt be too bad, especially the stylish Ferrari one – if its going to be put to many uses including TV and gaming, a Toshiba Satellite with a 1.8 Ghz core 2 duo, 2GB ram and nvidia geforce 7600 graphics with a 120GB harddrive would be perfect –
for a real nice custom one with your own chosen colors and tattoos, try voodoopc.com, but it would rack up to about $3 or 4k for a good performer –
stay away from Vaio and Fujitsu and Dell and HP
    AsusTEK isnt too bad
but Toshiba Satellite model is the one you want -
    cheers

I had a sony vaio during my undergrad. Now I’m getting my masters and I got myself a newer sony vaio because my first sony vaio was so great. It depends on what you are going to college for. if you are doing any kind of new media, photography or cinematography a mac is better than a pc. If you are going for a PC, I would recommend the sony vaio. I have had bad experiences with almost all dell laptops and several of my friends have complained about their HP laptops. I dont know anything about the other brands.

I think a Sony Vaio would be the best choice because it incorporates very good technology into a portable and often stylish laptop. Another good option might be a fujitsu siemens tablet PC style laptop because of its compact size, Windows Vista capibilities and touchscreen. I think one even comes with a incorporated webcam!

    HP Dv9000t! AMAZING!

If you have the money definately get a macbook.

Yeah I am biased. I have been a computer user for most of my life now. I used a PC my entire life, and now my friends convinced me to get a Macbook Pro, and I love it. It has extra things, but isn’t too different, and has most regular PC programs like Microsoft Office, etc. Best computer I’ve ever had by far.

  • GMaster:

    sony vaio
