What key features should I look for in a new desktop computer?
I am trying to keep the cost down but I also want a computer that will last for a while. It will mostly be used casually as I will not play games on it but I am hoping to use it for a small business and it may become my bedroom tv as well.
I am looking to spend around 00. Should I look for DDR3? Should I find a processor that is faster than 2.6 Ghz?
well you want at least 2 Gb of ram, probably 2 – 2.5 Ghtz dual core processor (or more) and probably at least a 500Gb hard drive, you could also look for one which has a graphics card.
thats a hard one. in windows xp or vista for standerd bissness i would go with xp for low cost the memory should be at least 1GB and prosessor should be a intel pentium 4 or a 2 core duo with 100GB hard drive space. as for the tv card you can buy one at any computer store.
The main thing is the CPU. A dual core of one type or another will most likely be enough. If you can find a quad core based PC for under $1000.00 grab it. It is not all about ghz these days. Anything over two ghz should be ok.
Pre-installed windows xp pro or win7.
At least two GB of DDR2 ram.
Onboard/integrated graphics plenty for business uses.
As for storage as little as 160 gb should be enough though you will need external or online storage for backups. Most important: backup info.
You need at least 1.5 gigs of ram
Your processor should be 2.8 or higher
65 gigs of Hard Drive Space
Cdrw+Dvdrw drive
The brand should be Probably Toshiba or HP ps:NEVER GET DELL!!!!
Yes, get one with 4 Gigs of DDR3 RAM if you plan on a 32-bit OS (Operating System, Windows 7).
If you plan on leaving ‘stuff’ on the Taskbar (in RAM), while you do other things, (TV, Spreadsheets, creating documents and whatever), 4 Gigs of RAM may be enough.
However, should you ever use the PC to play the newer games (try ‘em, they’re great, 3D coming soon), you should consider a 64-bit OS as it will support much more RAM and you can then not need to worry about leaving things in RAM (Multitasking).
Also consider the following:
Optical drive for read-write convenience and Lightscribe (HP-Hewlett Packard, Compaq).
HDD (Hard Disk Drive, 1 Terabyte, or 1000 Megabytes).
Get a monitor as large as is convenient (20" is nice, or bigger).
64-bit OS (Windows 7 for more than 4 Gigs of DDR3 RAM).
You’ll be good for years, unless you want a ‘Touch’ screen model.
Your choice.
