What is the best kind of processer for a laptop computer? Also what is the best brand of laptop?
I am buying a laptop very soon and I need to know what is the best kind of processor. Both of my desktops are pentium, but I hear that those are not always the best kind to use. I will be using my laptop instead of my desktop. I primarily use my computer to game. I am trying to look for the best laptop for me. And I know that how you use it makes a difference.
Thank you everyone!
I have a computer friend who I think I can get to install additional ram… but I am familar with how important adequate ram is.
I plan to buy an external hard drive, so I am not concerned with how big the hard drive is. I know using an external hard drive will slow the usage down a lot. So I know the processer will be even more taxed than usual.
As for price, I am not really worried about it. I am getting this as a gift and was told that price is not an object. The only constraint I am working with is I have to get it from one particular person. Apparently, this person is selling it to the person I am getting it from for the price he got it for.
They just bought a Toshiba Satellite a205-s4707 for 400 bucks (regularly 900) from this person for themselves.
I will have a limited selection of brand and stuff to pick from and I need to basically select the best one for me out of the ones he has. ![]()
I’ve used both AMD and Intel for gaming machines, and they both performed well although I personally prefer AMD chips.
There is no best brand, IMHO, but there are clearly better quality brands and models within each brand. You might consider the Alienware models for gaming.
If you’re looking for a portable gaming machine then be prepared to spend mucho dinero. Notebooks typically don’t have the horsepower, memory or video to run many of the more popular games. Also, since the upgrade options are very limited, what you get is what you’ll have for quite some time.
For gaming, look for a notebook with at least 2GB of RAM, a larger than average hard drive, a good video card that has its own onboard memory (not shared system memory).
Use a pentium processor (not celeron). They seem to be most reliable, but also the more expensive of the bunch.
If you are gaming, think about an AMD then…
Get a duo if you can afford it.
Brand: who cares, as long as the stuff inside is good.
Well I am an AMD lover and will preach that till I am blue in the face. However, I have to admit that Intel has done very well with its new DUO processors and I use the Centrino Duo on my work laptop and have to say that it is very nice and doesn’t seem to heat up like my older Intel Pentium laptop does.
As for best brand of laptop, I will say HP for the price and reliability. Dell had the market but they are laxing in their use of quality components these days. Dell is pretty good but still I say go with HP.
Just my suggestions.
Intel’s newest processer is usually the best in my opinion, brand of laptop is also just opinions, I would say HP & IBM are great
you can go here to check out http://www.intel.com/products/processor/index.htm?iid=prod_nav+proc
brand laptop hmm..
1 LENOVO – IBM
2 HP – COMPAQ
3 Dell
4 Asus
5 Toshiba
6 Sony.
As of now the intel core 2 duo range and AMD 64 X2 rule the market with the reputation of the fastest processors. Dual core processors are the best, in terms of speed and energy efficiency. There is no single answer for ur second question as it depends on a users expectation and experience. The most popular brand across the world is HP and DELL for sure, also dell and hp have a wide range of laptops to choose from. i have been using a HP Compaq for quite some time and i have no complaints. Sony Vaio is the best when we are talking about style. but i can tell u which are the top ten laptops in terms of performance, pricing, reliability etc

Any type of CPU
But stay away from VISTA
I recommend a dell cause you can customize them.
Intel will give better battery life but is more expensive.
AMD is more of a drain on batery but is cheaper.
You should buy a high quality Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. It comes with Intel Centrino, which is the best processor for a laptop computer.
