They all include a LCD, have decent specs (except for gaming graphics card) and have free shipping and one year warranty. adding another year is like 60 extra dollars. You dont Need to spend 500-1000 just to feel like youve gotten the best desktop available. All the brands are good, very little difference between them. You need to go into the store and figure out which one has the most RAM, the fastest processor, the largest hard drive, and the best monitor. Check for sales at stores.

and for $400 on craigslist.. I bought a dell optiplex for $400 with a widescreen flat monitor… Go dell for pc.. and you can go wrong if you go with a mac.. I work with both.. so you can’t lose….
I wouldn’t spend any more than $500 on a desktop though, thats for sure.. Technology is always getting better, so buy something under $500, use it for a year or so, and do the same thing… Spending thousands on a computer isn’t worth it to me…but thats just me…
First off you can build a desktop a very high end one that will last for at least 5 years for 1000.
Otherwise if you just want to buy go hp do not go dell. Dell is being sued by so many states you might just get left hanging.
Make sure you get a large hard drive at least 250 gig or so and make sure you get a stand alone video card with it. You want a min. of 2 gigs ram and a dvd writer dual layer.
You want at least a dual core and i prefer amd to intel.
If at all possiable wait till late next week to get on as amd quad cores are coming out sept 5th and from what everyone says they are going to smoke intel badly it is a true quad core and not just 2 x dual core chips.
