What features to get for a laptop computer used for business major in collge?
I’m entering a business major in college and need to know what features should I look for in a laptop computer.
Meaning that what features will I actually need for a business major
Basically you’ll be working on documents, spreadsheets, e-mails, internet, etc. These are not very demanding processes, so you could safely buy any *new* laptop currently on the market.
Something that may actually be of use is a notebook which is solid, since you’ll be carrying it around a lot. HP & Lenovo (Previously IBM) offer such notebooks which have a business focus to them.
Fast HDD, Lots of Memory, CPU and DVD burners. Don’t worry about these, any new laptop on the market will be sufficient for your purpose.

Dealing with a lot of data in spreadsheet form like the accounting/economics aspect, you need one with at least 1GB RAM. A decent size hard drive is also needed (over 60 GB), but really large ones are common on todays computers. A fast processor never hurts. Maybe a Core Duo 2 or something close to that. Graphics card is really no big deal unless you want to run Vista with the Aero theme, which can be demanding. Sound Cards don’t play a huge role either. A DVD burner would be helpful for big files if needed, but again, not a necessity if you are budgeted.
