I am starting college in a couple months and I need to buy a new laptop computer; however, I am not sure which is the best to buy. I will need it to write reports and work on projects. I also plan to take a lot of multimedia and film studies classes that will require me to make and burn my own DVD’s so it needs to be able to do that. I currently have a sony vaio but i need a better one for college. Please help, Thanks!

I’m interested in buying a new desktop with a budget of 1400 dollars (Canadian). I want it to run smoothly and to be able to handle multiple applications at the same time. I don’t really need it for things like gaming, but I work with videos and media in general… programs like sony vegas, fx etc.. So what brand shoud I get? Gateway? HP? Acer?
Dual Core or i3/i5 etc?
I’m not exactly a pro at choosing the right technology, so I really need help

Oh, also I’ve been told to build one from scratch, but I don’t like the risks that come along with the parts not working together etc, just …no.

Out of Dell, Hp, Sony, Gateway, Toshiba, Asus, etc… what is the best brand of pc for everyday laptop use?

The software I will be using is:

* Adobe InDesign CS4
* Adobe Photoshop CS4
* Adobe Illustrator CS4
* Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
*AutoCAD 2010

Needs:
-Laptop (PC preferably because Apples are so expensive)
- A really good graphics card
- Multiple programs open at the same time with no lag

I have found that, only hp,toshiba, sony, and emachines are the
only computer company’s that have there products in stores.
Besides DELL and those kiosks at the malls, I haven’t found a
store yet that you could walk into and buy an IBM which is what

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, and desktop computer. However, it’s going on 3 years and my desktop is about to die. I’ve heard they only make desktop computers to last about 3 years. So i’m just wondering is there a brand someone would recommend? Dell, another Vaio. I would be interested in purchasing a MAC..but my mother will be using it and I don’t know if she’ll be able to make the transition from PC to MAC.

I’m a student entering college, and am looking for the best possible laptop. I HAVE SEVERAL REQUIREMENTS HOWEVER!!!! I am an avid computer gamer so I prefer to have a laptop that plays flash and flash videos quickly and with minimal lag. I also use a loooot of memory, but am not tech savvy enough to install my own ramm thingamajiggers or whatchamacallits. Therefore, larger memory space is a huge plus.
I don’t really care about the price as long as it falls below or near 1,300-1,500, and deals with stuff included are appreciated.

Now: importantly: I DESPISE MACS. I have never had a good experience with a mac. They should just stick with making excelent mp3 players as far as I am concerned. I have had laptops made by most every company in my lifetime, and most have ended up dissapointing me. I currently have a HP and I love it so far prompting me to give bonus points for links to HP laptops.

So in summary: Lots of power, memory and fair pricing. Optional but appreciated are portability light weight and looks.

I WILL be watching frequently and will give best answer to the laptop I choose. Plead include links to sellers/websites/deals etc.

No, I guess I want something that’ll load vieos and webpages fast. I have a Hp running 64 bit Visa and normally with 900+ tabs of Moz Firefox running simultaneously. No joke. You can imagine the EPIC lag. Any suggestions now?
Tech wizard, ur info on chisets was helpful, but. Am teh n00b when it comes to upgrading anything or overclcking the whatever the fs. Im looking for something fast and I mean FAST right out of the box. Kinda tempted to customize my own on HPs website now though….

I DECIDED TO WITH THE FULLY LOADED ALIENWARE M17x. Because I can. You poor shmucks.

Ok so I just put Vista Business on my laptop because my college said that I need it (god only knows why). When I finished the upgrade, however, I found that my laptop will no longer connect to my wireless network, and it deleted 2 papers that I need for college in 2 weeks. I want to remove the Vista Business and restore my laptop to how it was when I bought it. Is this something I can do myself or do I need to take it to a specialist. Note: I have the restoration discs from when I first got the computer, and the people at the circuit city that I bought it from told me that if my comp ever crashed or something then those discs would restore it to how it was when I first bought it. I forgot to mention that the picture on the screen of my laptop only takes up about half of the screen itself instead of the whole thing. It didn’t do this until vista business was thrown into the equation. It’s a SONY VAIO in case that’s important

Student, first year at college, wanting to know which would be the best laptop to buy and what computer software should I look for. I do not know which kind of Dell if a Dell is better or even a Sony or Lenova(IBM) any ideas?

I’m looking to get a nice laptop or desktop computer. I want something that is fast, be able to take as little room as possible yet be able to handle pictures, videos and not slow it down to bad. I’ve had both, but I’m not that knowledgeable with either? What is the best brand out there? I’ve gone with Sony and HP, both work great. Is there anything else that I need to make ultimate set-up?
