My future father-in-law gave me a desktop computer from his shop. He owns a small business for which he makes circuit boards. The computer he gave me was running one of his machines(not exactly sure what it did though). It came with keyboard, mouse and CRT monitor.

The details that i do have:
(1) The computer is about 8yrs old, but in pristine condition. I took the cover off to inspect it and it looks brand new! Also…the cover seems to be heavy duty. It’s thick black sheet metal with braces on the inside and two handles on the outside!

(2) It has 2 Pentium III processors in it with Windows NT. Not sure on speed or memory! A cd player, floppy disc drive, video card and a couple of long skinny ports for which i assume linked to his machines in his shop(Parallel ports?).

Now…my question is; can this desktop computer be used as a home computer? Obviously a few changes would have to be made! First of which would be to change the OS to Windows XP or Vista. I would like to use it for internet(wireless) and hook it up to my Plasma TV as a monitor and watch movies and such! Is this possible?

Also…do they make Blu-ray players that can go inside Desktops?

It has two ports for monitors, i know what they look like! The long skinny ones are about 5in long and i’ve never seen them before…that’s why i assumed they were special for his machines!

What computers are best for each of the following and why?

· Internet Use

· General Home Use

· Small Business Use

· Game Monster Machine Use (i.e. Desktop computer that can be used for gaming )

i found a desktop on dell under small business that i like. it is 2.2ghz intel core2duo, 2gb ram, 1000gb hdd, ati radeon 2600XT HD graphics and it runs on windows vista home premium.. (no monitor but i alredy have a monitor at home) and it costs £294.00.
q1.is this computer any good?
q2. will any monitor be compatible with it?
q3. what diference will it make with me buying it in the small business section rather than the home section?

I need to power a few printers and a laptop computer for a small business. I will be working in remote locations out of my van, so ideally the power source should be renewable, and able to be accessed for about 12 hours each day. The entire setup must be portable ( fit into a commercial van ) and ideally cost only as much as necessary. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I got a laptop and my home computer has a copy of microsoft office 2003 small business edition on a CD. Can i use this CD and use office again or do i have to buy a separate copy for my laptop?

I am in a small business and already have a laptop and a desktop. However I bought the laptop before my business started so it is mainly for home use and does not have the specs needed for a small business. And my desktop is 5 or 6 years old so i need a new computer. I have been looking at the dell latitude models and was wondering if I should get a new desktop or just get a new laptop all together. Please help I cant decide whats best.

I have started a small business in March of 2008. I still do not have funding and cannot get a buisness loan because I am only 16. I would like to know if anyone knew of anybody who donated things to small business such as laptops, and desktop computers,ect.

I have started raising money to buy a laptop. But i was wondering if anybody knew where i could get one for free…because that would be a bigger help.

This is the first computer i am buying for my small business.
I will be using quickbooks, office, and running a website. Is this a good laptop.

if not, what wireless network topology would you recommend for a small business (child care center) that has at least 6 desktop computers(considering to add more computers) and 5 webcams to be set up around the area. it would be useful if you could give the other hardwares that i need to set up the wireless network. Thanks. ^_^

I have a small business and my laptop is getting old. The POS software that I use for all of my accounting and database management doesn’t exist anymore. The company went out of business so there is no hope of getting another copy of my software. I back up the data everyday, but the data is useless without the software. How can I transfer the program to another computer hard drive and still have it work? I have tried this several times using the backup function of the program, but when I try to open the program on the new computer there are files missing so it wont run.
If there is a way to copy my HD so that my program will work on another computer PLEASE help me!
I do not have any disks to re-load the program because it was an online downloadable program so there never were any disks.
