HP laptop with built in web cam- can people see me without my permission?

My husband bought me a new HP laptop computer with a built in webcam. I have never used a webcam, and I’m concerned that I could be sitting here minding my own business on the internet, and people can see me– can this happen? If this is so, what do I need to do so it is off and I am not visible?

Thank you for your help- I really don’t know much about these things!

I love building computers and want to start my own business. I don’t care about making millions just enough to live is all I want. I would buy from newegg.com and making 50-200 off the computers I sell till I can making partners with actual companies AMD, Intel, Asus ect ect. But is it really worth it?… I just feel more and more people have figured out that its not hard to build computers. I feel the need for companies is slipping away. My only thought is laptops… which I don’t have much experience with.. Please help…
Well I can get laptops. That’s not really a problem. But if I go laptops I should probably just make desktops too..
Ok I see what your saying. But how do I start to do something THAT big?!

Laptop Computer Processor Question?

I’m looking at two HP Laptops. They’re very similar except one is listed as having an "Intel Core i3-370M" Processor, while the other has an "AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile" Processor. Is there a major difference? Is one considered "better" than the other? I asked the salesman at Best Buy and he didn’t give me a great answer. Said something about "Well actually some of the guys from Intel left and started their own business, which is AMD". Not sure what the deal is there but it doesn’t answer which is better, so I’m hoping someone can offer some better info. Thanks!

Where can I learn computer hardware and repair online?

I want to learn about computer repair, not for my own business or anything like that, just for my own benefit so I can fix my own computer when needed.

I know software plenty enough, but once inside the computer, I hardly know anything at all.
I even have two desktop computers to practice on!

I own my own business and have VNC loaded on the computers at work so that computer technicians from another company can log onto my computers if I have any problems. How can I use this technology so that I can log onto my work computers from my laptop at home?

I have my own business for twenty years (law firm) and one of the computers finally died for good. I am not up to speed with the new specifications for size of how much ram and so forth, but I need a a new desktop that is fast as lightening and canand can run many programs at one time (such as Word, Office Suite, westlaw and so forth) . I need answers which give the specifications (and any tips on where to buy one affordably would be great too.

I am in need of a new computer for my office. I run my own business and my day to day tasks are surfing, email (alot), spreadsheets, word docs, picture (upload/download).

In the past I have had a local tech guy build me one. It is usually an extra 0 compared to a comparable desktop you could get at Best Buy or Office Depot, but he uses high quality parts and always throws an extra fan and a oversized PSU in it.

I have found a few desktops in the weekly ads that are around 0 (Tower only, I have my own monitor already.). Around 6 GB RAM, 500+ GB HD, and usually a media reader area. I know stock units don’t have that extra fan and a oversized PSU, but 0 difference in price for a store bought and a custom built is a fair point in the buying decision. Are there any brands that are above the rest when it comes to desktops? I have seen alot of HP, and I have heard mixed reviews on them.

If you could just give me you 10 cents on it that would be great! Thank you.

Laptop, home business, tax write off?

I have started my own business. It is an online shop and while my home computer has internet, it does not have the specs i need to hold my files, contacts, or create my own graphic designs and website. I need to get a laptop strictly for those purposes, would I be able to write it off as an expense? 100% of it will be used for my site, any other sites I create, advertisements and so on… Please let me know what options I have for this and any resources i can use for help.
