how to get control of my desktop while ,confined in hosiptal?

say,i had to be confined to an hospital for two weeks.but there is home computer or desktop.i might need to access while confined to get and do work for my business.

Question for computer 'Experts'!!!?

My future father-in-law gave me a desktop computer from his shop. He owns a small business for which he makes circuit boards. The computer he gave me was running one of his machines(not exactly sure what it did though). It came with keyboard, mouse and CRT monitor.

The details that i do have:
(1) The computer is about 8yrs old, but in pristine condition. I took the cover off to inspect it and it looks brand new! Also…the cover seems to be heavy duty. It’s thick black sheet metal with braces on the inside and two handles on the outside!

(2) It has 2 Pentium III processors in it with Windows NT. Not sure on speed or memory! A cd player, floppy disc drive, video card and a couple of long skinny ports for which i assume linked to his machines in his shop(Parallel ports?).

Now…my question is; can this desktop computer be used as a home computer? Obviously a few changes would have to be made! First of which would be to change the OS to Windows XP or Vista. I would like to use it for internet(wireless) and hook it up to my Plasma TV as a monitor and watch movies and such! Is this possible?

Also…do they make Blu-ray players that can go inside Desktops?

It has two ports for monitors, i know what they look like! The long skinny ones are about 5in long and i’ve never seen them before…that’s why i assumed they were special for his machines!

Is there a way to listen to an ipod shuffle on another computer with I-tunes?

I got a laptop and my home computer has a copy of microsoft office 2003 small business edition on a CD. Can i use this CD and use office again or do i have to buy a separate copy for my laptop?

yahoo mail stuck to outlook on one computer can't receive yahoo mail any where else?

My yahoo e-mails have become only accessible on one computer in my business and only through outlook. I can no longer pick up mail on my laptop, home computer or phone. I have looked at the e-mail account listed in outlook and this yahoo account is not listed. What can I do free this account from the outlook prison.

Connect using Remote Desktop to different computer on the same router?

I am trying to use Remote Desktop to connect to 2 different machines in my office. Both machines are connected to the same router. I can connect remotely to one of the computers with no problems using the IP address however I am not sure how to connect to the other machine. The machine I can connect to is running XP Pro and the Machine I can not is running Vista Business, the machine I am remoting with is Vista Home. Because both machines are behind the same router I assume that I would have to use the same IP address but using that address I can only pull up the one machine. Is there something I have to change on the router to puller up different machines? The router is a Netopia Router, does this router allow remoting into different machines? When I open the remote desktop connection on the remoting computer I have to put in the IP address, then I can put in the User Name and Password. Is there something I have to do at this point? I tried in the other computer name but it didnt work
I was assuming that they are using the same IP address, how do I find the different IP address for each machine? ipconfig just shows me the default router IP address

I am not sure what you mean about setting home computer to be the same network as laptop. What I am doing is using a laptop to connect to 2 different computer’s in my office that are connected by the same router. I can connect to the XP computer with no problems but the new computer (just installed) I cant connect to. When connecting to the new computer will I use the same IP address as the XP computer or will I use a different one? If I have to use a different one, how do I find out the correct IP address to use for remoting into the Vista Machine. With this information does your other instruction still apply? ONLY PCs, no Macs because I want to compare the best PC with a Mac.
I don’t want a fancy gaming computer, a simple home computer that has all the essentials. Also, I probably won’t get a Mac because they cost more, but we’ll see.

I have started my own business. It is an online shop and while my home computer has internet, it does not have the specs i need to hold my files, contacts, or create my own graphic designs and website. I need to get a laptop strictly for those purposes, would I be able to write it off as an expense? 100% of it will be used for my site, any other sites I create, advertisements and so on… Please let me know what options I have for this and any resources i can use for help.
