Best laptop computer for photo/video editing and music?

I’m looking for a laptop to replace my iPad. I was looking at Macbooks, but they’re far out of my price range. I would like one for 0 or less (preferably less). I need one that’s fast and doesn’t have the tendency to overheat. Need a lot of battery life, of course. I will be using it mostly for photo editing. I will also use it for video editing and music stuff like iTunes and such. What is the best brand and model at a fairly cheap price? Dell, HP, Toshiba?

I need a laptop computer to surf the web and you tube and a good battery life, used would be fine. I think i would like a hp or a dell, because i have had good luck with them in the past. but i need to know the basics like how much ram i need and memory and stuff.

hey whats the BEST desktop OR LAPTOP computer for gaming and has a VERY good battery life (laptop) and something that won’t freeze for HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS…… I have an hp Pavilion dv600 and it’s a complete piece of sh!t i can’t stand it…. i spent over 00 on it and it’s already been 3 years and it’s horrible, but besides that whats the best computer out there for me?? and i don’t have a ton of stuff on here i only have itunes installed on here and mozilla fire fox, and it’s always freezing somone help? just tell me whats the best computer for me please? help??????/

They are both actually different in several ways. A Laptop is portable and tends to be smaller in size, for mobile use and efficient power consumption. Laptops are much expensive in price than Desktop computers though. They run on a single main battery so it can charge the battery while also supplying power to the computer itself. In addition, they also have a built in keyboard that may utilize the touchpad (also known as a track pad) or a pointing stick for input. On the other hand, a Desktop computer is made for a home or office, they are the most affordable computers in business, schools, etc. This is because no effort is needed to miniaturize the components. Moreover, a Desktop usually have a physical keyboard and mouse interface which can house lower performing, power-saving components, (in comparison to larger laptops). They tend to have limited battery life, rarely exceeding three hours, because the hardware is not optimized for efficient power usage.

Ok I’m a college student who plans to major in business/economics or possibly mathematics. I’m in dire need of a new computer and am undecided. Looking for unbiased opinions. First off I plan to use the laptop for essays, powerpoint presentations, excel, possibly onenote, music, movies, youtube, hulu, email, and stuff like that. Heavy gaming, or gaming for that matter, isn’t a necessity. I’m more focused on getting the best machine that willl last me for years to come. I want a good battery life to ensure if I need it in class or on trips that it’ll have that capacity. I’m also trying to stick under the 0 price range. Here’s what I’ve found, any advice is much appreciated.

P.S. Both of the laptops go down in price if I would go with the 6-cell battery.

I’m looking for hardcore specs, ie: battery life, how much ram I honestly need (or for years to come, especially seeing how I’m getting windows 7 and possibly windows office 2010), if harddrive rpm’s make that much of a difference, etc. Thanks a TON!!!

Best laptop for a business student? Macbook? Sony VAIO?

I am starting University as a Business student doing a double major in Business and Financial Math in September. I am looking for the best laptop I can get for school, any suggestions?

If I can get the Mac it comes with Windows for Mac, or I could use boot-camp to get the Office Software I’m used to.

I need a lot of battery life which is why I am leaning towards a Mac because I have three 1.5 hour classes in a row with no outlet to charge my computer.

This is sort of a repeat question because I don’t know how to reply to the posts as i’m new to yahoo answers.

Must haves:
1. Quad Core processor (okay, maybe core 2 duo if no choice).
a. So I will only be able to utilize the quad-core processors if I use it for gaming?
b. I just found out from research that the Intel i7 / quad-core processors will be launched for laptops in Q1 2010. Should I wait?
c. I also read that not many programs will be able to capitalize on a quad-core processor.
d. The main reason for preferring quad-core is because I want to future-proof my laptop for at least 18 months.

3. 15-16 inches screen
4. Wont get unreasonably hot to create discomfort while using
5. Fast responses – Excellent multi-tasking, engineering software (CAD, ProE, SolidWorks), spreadsheets. I like to open many windows at once and really need a very good multitasking laptop
6. SSD or a fast hard disk (>7200rpm)
7. integrated multi-card reader (SD, MSPro, mSD, etc)
8. full-sized keyboard
9. I can always buy additional RAM from the aftermarket and fit it myself (so laptop must be capable of up to 4GB at least)

4. I want to sort-of future proof it if possible for at least 15-18 months.

I used to have a HP Compaq nx6325 which was really good. I’m inclined to buy the next iteration of nx6325 or migrate to the reliable ThinkPad.

I don’t play computer games, and i travel often but i don’t mind it being <3kg (6.2lbs).

I’ve done 1 week of research and found a few, but i wont be limit myself to these below. I am open to other brands too:
