What I would like the computer to have: intel/AMD Quad Core, at least 4GB ram DDR2 or 3, Pref 512MB-1GB VRAM, 500GB HD
I have had a mac for years, but need a more universal computer (windows) and I have lost touch with PC’s and their prices; hence me asking this question…

Any Suggestions? Can you get a quad core for 700 these days?

I am considering a basic laptop from Dell refurbished.
I use my computer for a part time business and the rest of the time listen to music, surf the web, etc. BTW, I don’t do gaming.
Processors are the big question for me .
I know P4 is premium, but can I do alright with an AMD based on my usage info?
Need all opinions good and bad on processors for light business and no gaming. Thanks!

I am currently using a Dell Inspiron 1505 laptop for for homework, internet, and occasionally World of Warcraft. All three (especially WoW) are insanely slow and im looking for a desktop computer instead of another laptop. I did some searching on the web and thought that the Gateway – Desktop with AMD Athlon™ X2 Dual-Core Processor looked like a good deal for the money. 2.7Ghz, plenty of RAM, hard drive, but im not sure whether theres an underlying problem that would conflict with my three uses on this computer. I would prefer no lag at all on WoW even on the highest video qualities. If you have any suggestions on upgrades for that desktop that i could install or any other desktop, please post. Thanks

I love building computers and want to start my own business. I don’t care about making millions just enough to live is all I want. I would buy from newegg.com and making 50-200 off the computers I sell till I can making partners with actual companies AMD, Intel, Asus ect ect. But is it really worth it?… I just feel more and more people have figured out that its not hard to build computers. I feel the need for companies is slipping away. My only thought is laptops… which I don’t have much experience with.. Please help…
Well I can get laptops. That’s not really a problem. But if I go laptops I should probably just make desktops too..
Ok I see what your saying. But how do I start to do something THAT big?!

These are the reccomendations from my college for a laptop. Recently i have been looking at Macs and maybe an HP. I have been leaning towards the Mac but have heard it isnt good for business majors. Please reccomend a computer that would be most appropriate for a business major that won’t have problems with viruses or crashing.

i have never had a mac but i have looked at them before and have liked them alot. The past couple of computers i’ve owned are hp’s i believe and i have never really had any problems

Can you also give where you can buy it?

- AMD processor
- 2 GB RAM,320 GB hard Drive
- Keyboard and Mouse.

I’m looking at two HP Laptops. They’re very similar except one is listed as having an "Intel Core i3-370M" Processor, while the other has an "AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile" Processor. Is there a major difference? Is one considered "better" than the other? I asked the salesman at Best Buy and he didn’t give me a great answer. Said something about "Well actually some of the guys from Intel left and started their own business, which is AMD". Not sure what the deal is there but it doesn’t answer which is better, so I’m hoping someone can offer some better info. Thanks!

I’m majoring in business admin. and deciding whether to get a laptop or netbook for the coming school year.

I want a netbook for its ultra-portability, small size, and easy computing however my current sony vaio laptop’s specs are a bit outdated (running 1GB ram and 80 GB HDD 1.6GHz). The battery is dead so I have to constantly keep it plugged in (on battery lasts only 10 minutes!) and the DVD/RW optical drive doesn’t work. I have to always rely on my slower desktop pc to burn/copy/rip data off of discs, which is TIME CONSUMING!

Mainly i’ll be using the "new" computer for typing notes, using Office constantly, browsing. Netbooks sounds perfect but I also feel like replacing my current laptop.

WHICH ONE?!

I am expecting to pay about 1,100 dollers give or take. I want a dual core either Intel or AMD. A good videocard 256 MB. 1 GB of memory. 7,200 RPM hard drive. Tell me a website or a company that could be useful or both. Thank you for helping me with my problem.

What would be THE BEST laptop computer processor to have? Intel? AMD? what?
