Is HP going out of business? Should I purchase an HP laptop, yes or no?

I am a little confused on what is going on with HP. I am hearing they are "going out of business" or PC business or whatever. Is this true? What exactly will happen to current PCS, laptops and so on? Will this mean in the future, they can’t have parts replaced, or the computer can’t be fixed?

Ive been interested in getting an HP ENVY laptop from HP for a long time. Now I finally have enough money and i am hearing about this.

Should I NOT purchase this laptop ive waited for? I dont want to buy a laptop that will not be able to be fixed, or have parts replaced. Please, fill me in more on this issue. Contradicting news articles just confused me even more.

Best laptop computer for value?

I have a Dell account, and was thinking about buying a laptop for my husband. He is going back to school (and I am working on my Master’s online), and I want to get him one so we are not constantly fighting over usage of the computer. I don’t want to spend as much as I did on my desktop 00 three years ago (not including adding memory, general maintenance, and an upgrade to Windows 7). AT THE MINIMUM, what do I need to look at when purchasing him one. The primary functions is for school and not gaming, though watching movies on it would be a bonus. I am already planning on buying a wireless printer since mine will be more costly to replace than to buy new. He MAY be going to school for computers (networking)…so if this requires a computer with more bells and whistles, any advice on that would also be helpful. We will use this, and I never regretted spending the amount of money we did on our desktop. I am looking for value over dollars spent. Thank you.

What is a xeon chip made by Microsoft?

I have a Dell Precision desktop that’s meant to be a business computer but use it for personal computing.

It has something called a xeon chip.

What is it?

Also, I run Windows XP 32Bit and have 4GB RAM but only about 3GB recognized.

But, there are slots for up to 32GB of RAM in the RAM slots.

Why have such capacity when the system only recognizes about 3GB?

Was it so I can upgrade?

What's the best desktop computer for around $1200?

ok so I’m 14 and I’m looking to be a video producer. I’m already enrolled in a technical high school for video (and media) production. So the computer that I’m currently on has 1 gb ram, a 2.1 ghz AMD dual core processor, and 4 people using it. I need my own computer for video editing in 1080p. (and possibly some gaming..tehe)
so i’ve been saving up for about a year now and I found a bunch of computers that would be good. The Dell studio XPS 8300 with a bunch of upgrades seemed to fit my needs and my budget. With upgrades it has:
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English
Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz)
Microsoft® Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word & Excel w/ ads. No PowerPoint or Outlook
2Year Basic Service Plan
ST2220L 21.5-inch Full HD Widescreen Monitor
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5
8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz – 4 DIMMs
1TB – 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
McAfee SecurityCenter, 15-Months
Software & Services
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
AY410 2.1 Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer
Dell Consumer Multimedia Keyboard
Dell 1520 WLAN PCIe card with11n mini-Card & external antenna
Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio
Dell Laser Mouse
Personalize
DataSafe 2.0 Online Backup 2GB for 1 year
Also Includes
XPS 8300
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 9.0 Multi-Language
No Dial Up Modem Option
Standard USB 2.0 + 10/100/1000 Ethernet
now this computer is 40 which is a little above my price range, but if the computer is good for the money, I’ll take it. Any suggestions on a better computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Starting a small computer business in NY state. sales tax confusion?

HI. There, bear with me this might be confusing.

I’ve been running a "business"on the side since i’ve been out of high school, that being that I build custom desktop computers for people. I usually buy parts out of my own pocket from Newegg.com (lets say 0) then build it, deliver it, and install in the person’s home charging 0 more for the whole thing. Ergo, the customer pays me a total lump some of 0 for their new computer when the job is complete; the money I spent on Newegg gets replenished and 0 goes to me.

But soon I’m going to the department of corporations to incorporate myself and also start accepting credit card payments since I’ve been dealing in cash and checks. So I need to think about sales tax now- heres where it gets confusing.

Newegg.com does not charge sales tax, I dont know why. My question is, If parts from newegg cost 0 and my labor costs 0, then the 0 that the customer pays without knowing exactly how much the parts or labor balance out in that figure needs to have another 8.5% added to go to the state? Or are just the parts taxed, or just the labor since I already bought the parts and am kind of just charging to assemble it?

The other question is; a wholesaler of already built laptops and tablets and stuff (sourcecode.com) I deal with besides newegg does in fact charge sales tax on those computers that I then mark up and resell. What gets taxed? Just my markup, or the entire thing even though that would be taxing it twice? As you can see I’m just out of highschool and I’m trying to be legit here but I’m a bit confused. Thanks for the help; let me know if I need to clarify more.

Which is the best a Laptop Computer or a Desktop computer?

Which is the best a Laptop Computer or a Desktop computer?

Any reason to upgrade my desktop computer?

I have Dell Precision Business computer that I use for personal use at home that has Windows XP, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and runs on something called the Xeon Chip set.

I have a fast fiber-optic connection and my computer is pretty fast too.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7 and 6BG RAM, 500GB hard drive, and dual core processor. It does not seem to run any faster than my Windows XP desktop.

Question I have is do I need to buy a new desktop with Windows 7 and i5 or i7 core?

I have the money but don’t want to waste it.

Will Windows XP system stay secure and updated for awhile?

On my laptop, the R key just stated sticking for no apparent reason. What should I do?

This is my business computer so I haven’t spilled anything on it but it does get heavy use.
