How would I eliminate my computer desktop's fan noise?

I’m getting into the Voice Over business using my home computer to record and edit audio. The room must be as silent as possible. As such, the computer’s fan can be heard in the background. How can I eliminate the fan noise?

You can replace the fans with fans designed for quiet operation. Here’s some:

Can also use sound dampening kits:

If you have a noisy PSU you can replace it with one thats quieter as long as it has the same power. PC Power and Cooler makes a series of PSUs called Silencer.
A lot of PSU noise isn’t made because of the fans themselves but by the turbulence of the air inside the PSU in front of the fan because the air is moving in a tight area in front of the fan. If you’ve ever stood between 2 houses that are only 15 feet apart you may have noticed it is sometimes like a wind tunnel and the wind sometimes even howls. Basically the same thing is happening inside the PSU with the wind turbulence. The Silencer series PSUs are 1 to 1 1/2 inches longer than a standard size PSU to give a lot of free space in front of the rear fan thus keeping wind velocity and noise down. Need to be sure, of course, that you can put a longer PSU in the case before you buy one.

you can clean the inside of your computer with compressed air and see if that makes the fans run quieter. if you are very serious about silence then i would look into a soundproof case for your computer. i know cooler master makes them and probably a few others.
